Punk is the only genre where the gear advice and the politics come from the same people. This category covers both. On the gear side: what the bands you like actually play, how to get a hardcore guitar sound on a practice amp budget, and how screamo vocals get recorded without a studio budget. On the DIY side: starting a zine, running a distro without losing your mind, pressing vinyl without going broke, tape trading, flyer design, booking your first show. The rule is the same as everywhere else on this site: no affiliate-flavored hype, no gatekeeping, no pretending you need a thousand-euro pedal. Most of the best punk records ever made were recorded with less gear than you already own, and we can prove it.
